Aeronautical Engineering is one of the most challenging Engineering branches with a wide scope for growth. It broadly deals with the design and development of Aircrafts and Spacecrafts. Aeronautical Engineering has specialization in the field of Aerodynamics, Structures, Propulsion, Avionics, Flight Mechanics and Control Systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics, etc. This field deals also with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, space exploration and defense systems. It specializes in the designing, construction, development, testing, operation and maintenance of both commercial and military aircraft, spacecrafts and their components as well as satellites and missiles. As Aeronautical Engineering involves design and manufacture of high technology systems, the job requires excellent manual, technical as well as mechanical aptitude. Aeronautical engineers usually work in teams under the supervision of senior engineers, bringing together their skills and technical expertise. The job is highly paid and the work is always very demanding and interesting.
This branch of Engineering at the B. Tech. level is being introduced as a course of study at RIET with effect from the academic year 2011-12 subject to final approval and ours will be the first college to start this course under the University of Kerala. The facilities being provided include excellent laboratories, various aircraft models and competent faculty.
